Johann Fischlmeyer born on August 25, 1868 in Matzleinsdorf (Lower Austria)    

                                                           
1883 he graduates from the Edthof agricultural school                                                                                                                                                                                           
1883 - 1886 apprenticeship at the Ripka inn

1888 John goes to Paris. The first letter home is written from the Hotel Scribe and describes observing the construction of the Eiffel Tower.

1891/92 first trip to America. Together with a business partner, he opens a liquor store in New York.

1900 listed as a miner in the Alaskan census. He mines for and finds gold.

1903 Engagement to Isabella Young Mackenzie in New York

1904 Marriage

1905 Death of Isabella Young Mackenzie

1906 John comes to Vienna and owns the Café Ritz, Vienna I. Spiegelgasse 10

1916 John wears uniform

John loses his fortune during the First World War. With his knowledge of the language and the country, he sees his future in the States.

1920 - 1930 John lives in New York. And is manager of the Hotel Astor, Manhattan, Times Square

On February 20, 1930, John Fischlmeyer dies of pneumonia in New York.

His obituary appears in the Austrian Kaffeesiederzeitung.
